Transparency International Kenya (TI-Kenya) has, since 2017, convened the annual Integrity Walk as a flagship public engagement initiative that mobilizes citizens, institutions, development partners, and the private sector to champion transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.
While these efforts have significantly contributed to public awareness and civic engagement, the persistence of corruption points to a deeper challenge that requires not only accountability mechanisms and enforcement but also deliberate investment in values formation and prevention. Sustainable change requires nurturing integrity from an early age and equipping future generations with the values, attitudes, and skills necessary to reject corruption and promote ethical leadership.
In response, TI-Kenya is evolving its flagship initiative into Move for Integrity 2026, a dynamic and inclusive event that combines both an 8Km Integrity Walk and a 10Km Integrity Run, bringing together walkers, runners, families, institutions, corporates, youth, and development partners under one national movement for integrity.
The event will be held under the theme “Moving Together for Transparency and Access to Information in the Digital Age”. It will coincide with the global commemoration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI).
Move for Integrity 2026 is more than a sporting event. It is a national movement that combines civic action, wellness, advocacy, and fundraising to promote transparency, accountability, access to information, and ethical leadership while investing in the next generation through values-based education.
Funds raised through the Move for Integrity 2026 will support TI-Kenya’s anti-corruption programmes, including civic education, legal aid for victims and witnesses of corruption, whistleblower protection, and the establishment and strengthening of Integrity Clubs in learning institutions across Kenya. Through these interventions, the initiative contributes to a more transparent and accountable society, where integrity is both demanded from leaders and embraced by citizens from an early age.
Since its inception in 2017, the Integrity Walk has grown into Transparency International Kenya’s flagship civic engagement and public fundraising platform, bringing together citizens, development partners, government institutions, diplomatic missions, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and the private sector to demonstrate collective commitment to integrity and accountability.
The 2025 Integrity Walkathon successfully mobilized more than 1,000 participants and over 50 institutional partners, reaffirming the power of collective action in advancing transparency and citizen engagement.
As Kenya navigates an era characterized by rapid digital transformation, growing public demand for accountability, increasing governance challenges, and the need to nurture ethical leadership among future generations, there is an opportunity to expand the impact of this initiative beyond awareness creation.
Move for Integrity 2026 responds to this opportunity by combining advocacy with measurable social impact. The event seeks to transform public participation into long-term investment in integrity by supporting programs that build ethical values and responsible citizenship among children and youth.
The Move for Integrity 2026 will be a non-competitive, inclusive event designed to accommodate participants of all ages and fitness levels. Key features are:
Pre-Walk Activities
Campaign: A series of awareness campaigns, including social media challenges, workshops, and school programs, to educate the public about integrity.
Integrity Wall: A physical or digital wall where participants can write messages or commitments to integrity.
Guest Speakers: Prominent figures from government, civil society, and the private sector will share insights on the importance of integrity.
Route Description:
The 8km walk and 10km run will take participants through key state institutions and symbolic landmarks that reflect the values of transparency, accountability, and public service, reinforcing the campaign’s message of integrity in governance and civic responsibility.
